Why chose Open Road Motorcycle Training?
At Open Road, our main objective is to make you a safe and competant rider and of course help you to pass your test, so you can enjoy many years of enjoyable and exciting riding. Our promise is to give you the best training and advice we possibly can, giving you the best techniques for all types of riding and manoeuvres. Our first–time pass rate of 90% for all students, no matter how experienced proves that we are the best at what we do! So start your journey with Open Road as soon as possible!
What times does the course start?
CBT – 08:45 – 4.30 (approx).
Full Day – 09.30 – 16.00.(DAS)
Morning session – Half Day – 09.30 – 12.30.
Afternoon Session –Half Day – 13.00 – 16.00.
What days are you open?
Open Road Motorcycle Training is open 7 days a week, plus all bank holidays. We are closed for training on Christmas Day, Boxing and New Year’s Day, but you may be able to catch one of our staff if you telephone!

How long is the CBT?
The CBT course last the whole day. The course starts at 08:45, beginning with theory and off road training section. After lunch, the on-road training will begin. This will finish when the instructor is satisfied with your quality of riding, but will last a minimum of 2 hours.
Will I need my own clothing and motorcycle?
The training school can provide you with equipment such as; Helmet, jacket and gloves, of all sizes. The only item of clothing we do not supply is suitable footwear. We suggest that you use any type of walking boots or any other sturdy foot wear you have – trainers are not suitable for riding any motorcycle.
Open Road will also supply all types of motorcycles from 50cc scooters, 125cc geared machines to 600cc motorcycles. If you do chose to use your own motorcycle, it will have to be in a road worthy condition with a valid MOT certificate (if over 3 years old), it must be fully taxed and you be insured on the vehicle.
What motorcycle do you use?
At Open Road, we keep the average age of our fleet down buy regularly purchasing younger vehicles. At the moment, we use the Peugeot ludix 50cc scooter, Honda cbf 125cc and Honda cbf 600cc. These are a new fleet of motorcycles that are really easy to learn to ride on. We also have a few of the motorcycles lowered so they are a lot easier to ride for people that are slightly smaller in height.
Where do I book the theory test?

What is Advanced Motorcycle Training?
Advanced training is simply the name given to development training once you have passed your motorcycle test. This course allows you to get the most enjoyment out of riding a motorcycle; it will develop your skills even more and make you a much more confident and safer rider.
What is CBT training?
CBT stands for Compulsery Basic Trainning. Its not a test,if however if you have passed a car test before 2001. You can ride a moped on your licience without completing the CBT course. For any Bike or scooter over 50cc and upto a 125cc you will need to complete the CBT. The course can be completed using a provincial licence. Remeber its not a test its a safety based course.
What is DAS Training?
DAS stands for Direct Access. This test has to be taken on a machine off over 46.6 BHP, you also have To be 21 years or older. When completed you gain a full motorcycle licence with no restriction to bike size or power.
What is the practical test [A1]?
This test will be taken on a 125cc machine, you will need to be 17 years old or above. When completed you will have a A1 licence letting you ride any machine of 33bhp or under. After a 2 year restriction of 33bhp. You will have a full licence with no restriction to bike size or power.
